Gardening Tips for December

This month we have some more tips for making the most of your garden during winter. Check out our Gardening Tips for December below.

Prune Wisteria cutting back side shoots to 2 to 3 buds.
Leave faded Hydrangea heads on for winter protection.
Plant a winter container using hardy Cyclamen, Ivy, Skimmia and Carex grasses.
Mushrooms are great to grow in kits at this time of year.
Brush heavy snow off greenhouses.
Avoid walking on lawns after snow or heavy frost as this can damage the grass beneath.
Harvest Holly with berries to use for Christmas decoration, keeping it cool and in water until needed.
Feed the birds with energy-rich suet balls to help keep them warm on cold winter nights.
