Continue to feed and dead-head hanging baskets as they will often keep going until the first frost.
Plant spring flowering bulbs.
Start dividing herbaceous perennials and water well as the weather cools down.
Start planting autumn onion sets.
Look out for rotting fruit on apple, pear and plum trees. Pick them as they spread diseases if left on the tree.
Start to remove shading to maximise light in your greenhouse. Close vents at night to trap heat to ensure a longer crop.
Treat your lawn with an autumn feed to prepare it for the winter months. Also, keep a lookout for chafer grub and leather jacket damage as now is the time to treat it.
